Jeffrey Silverstein live, promoting his third full-length album Doggone, presented by Love Thy Neighbour.
Jeffrey Silverstein plays The Prince Albert on Sunday 21 March, from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm. He's touring his third full-length album, Doggone, which he recorded with a group of Portland-based collaborators: producer and composer Ryan Oxford (Y La Bamba, Rose City Band), bassist Alex Chapman, and drummer Dana Buoy (Akron/Family). The record was tracked at the Center for Sound, Light and Color Therapy and mastered by Amy Dragon, who's worked with Big Thief, Nathaniel Rateliff, and Moon Duo.
Silverstein describes his sound as sitting at the intersection of loner-folk, cosmic country, and kraut-laden choogle, and Doggone runs the length of that description, moving from an opening pulse of rhythms to a closing cascade of synths. The songs look at community, ageing, and the impact of place on creative work. Freak-folk hero Devendra Banhart lends guest vocals to the lead single, 'Out of Tune', a mellow country groove backed by dreamy cosmic pedal steel.
