Live performance by the synth-based post-punk rock trio Interrobang, with support from Molly Vulpyne Band.
If you are looking for something to do on the evening of Friday, 8 May, there is a live show happening at The Hope & Ruin that might be worth noting. The venue is hosting the post-punk trio Interrobang, who are bringing their specific brand of agit-synth to Brighton. For those familiar with the band's history, the group was formed back in 2012 by Dunstan Bruce and Harry Hamer, both formerly of Chumbawamba, alongside Stephen Griffin, who was part of Regular Fries. Their sound relies heavily on a mix of synthesizers, programmed beats, and samples, moving away from traditional rock instrumentation to create something they describe as an anti-rock aesthetic.

They will be sharing the stage with the Molly Vulpyne Band. This is a newer project led by Molly Vulpyne, featuring musicians Peter Jones, Jay Bagnall, and Tony Carberry. Their set is expected to showcase a blend of genres, focusing on powerful riffs and a driving rhythm section. It is a good opportunity to see both acts in a relatively intimate setting, as the venue is well-known for its live music programming.
The event is scheduled to run from 19:30 until 23:00. It is worth keeping in mind that there is an 18+ age restriction for entry, so you will need to bring ID if you plan on attending. Tickets are currently available through Fatsoma and See Tickets for anyone interested in securing a spot. It is a straightforward setup: a night of live music featuring a mix of established post-punk veterans and a newer local formation, all taking place in one of the city's regular spots for this kind of performance.
