Concert by Inner Terrestrials, a pioneering UK dub-punk band formed in south-east London in 1994, blending hardcore punk, dub, ska and folk.
Inner Terrestrials play The Prince Albert on Sunday 22 November, starting at 1:30pm. They go by iT! as well, and they've been around since Jay Terrestrial and Fran Webber teamed up in south-east London in 1994. The line-up grew in 1996 when they added drummer Paco, who'd come from Conflict.
They're known as pioneers of the UK dub-punk sound, and you can hear where that comes from in the way they work: they blend hardcore punk, dub, ska and folk, all held together by aggressively political lyrics. It's a broad mix, and they've kept it going over a long career. Their debut album, IT!, came out shortly after the line-up settled, followed by the vinyl-only live record Escape From New Cross in 1997, the Enter The Dragon EP in 1999 and the Barry Horne single in 2002. After covering The Clash's 'Guns Of Brixton', they released a second studio album, X, in 2004, and by February 2008 they were back in the studio recording a new LP due that summer. They've gigged and toured widely across the UK and Europe since the early days.
