Actor and artist Jake Wood presents a month-long art exhibition featuring portraits of iconic figures, including Winston Churchill and Dame Barbara Windsor.
If you have been walking down Jew Street lately, you might have noticed some activity at the Indelible Fine Art gallery. This week, the space is hosting a new exhibition titled 'Icon Series', which features the work of actor and artist Jake Wood. The exhibition officially opens on Thursday, 7 May 2026, at 18:00, and will remain open to the public for the following month. It is a project that brings together a collection of portraits focusing on figures from the worlds of politics, cinema, music, and sport.

The collection consists of 15 original pieces, all created using a mixed-media approach. Wood has combined spray paint, acrylics, digital techniques, and collage to build these portraits. Among the works on display, two pieces serve as central points for the exhibition: a portrait of Winston Churchill and one of Dame Barbara Windsor, who was a colleague of Wood’s during his time on Eastenders. Wood has noted that his intention with the portrait of Windsor was to capture her personality. For those visiting the exterior of the gallery, there is also a large-scale mural of Winston Churchill.
There is a charitable element tied to this exhibition as well. The gallery is launching a limited edition signed print of the Churchill portrait, and 10% of the sales from these prints will be donated to Dementia UK. Scott Mitchell, the widower of Barbara Windsor, is scheduled to attend the opening event. While the gallery is selling both the original artworks and the prints, there is no mention of an entry fee, suggesting that the exhibition is open for anyone to walk in and view the collection during its month-long run. It is an interesting opportunity to see how Wood has approached these specific figures through his particular style of mixed media.
