Lofi-folk artist Hudson Freeman plays a standing show at Komedia Studio in Brighton, presented by Joy Concerts.
Hudson Freeman plays Komedia Studio on Wednesday 24 February, with a support act to be announced. It's a standing show presented by Joy Concerts, and it's for ages 14 and over.
Freeman is a Brooklyn-based lofi-folk artist with a bit of a nomadic backstory. He was born in Waxahachie, Texas, to Evangelical missionaries, and started writing songs at thirteen after his family moved from the Dallas suburbs to the Kingdom of Eswatini. He cites Sufjan Stevens and Bon Iver as influences, and his college years in Springfield, Missouri, helped shape the sound before he eventually settled in Brooklyn, where his career took off.
His 2025 record Is A Folk Artist weaves faith, belonging and anxiety into a modern folk album, and the song 'If You Know Me' — a moody blend of bedroom pop, folk, slowcore and post-emo — drew widespread attention. He also released a split EP, Adult Contemporary, with his friend The Bedroomer. 2026 saw him play Luck Reunion and Newport FolkFest and open for Mumford & Sons and Foxwarren, with a new album due this autumn, so this date comes as he's touring fresh material.
