Hidden Herd punk night headlined by Guy McKnight and The DSM IV, with support from Blitzer, Sounds Mint, Not Richard & Her Majesty.
The DSM IV headline a Hidden Herd punk night at The Hope and Ruin on Wednesday 27 January, with Blitzer opening and Sounds Mint, Not Richard & Her Majesty filling out the bill. It's a four-band run, and the headliners are Guy McKnight and his band, The DSM IV.
There's a bit of history running through the night. McKnight is one of the former members of Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, a band the promoter ranks among the best live acts they've ever seen. He's described as one of rock n roll's most charismatic frontmen, and his sound blends synth pop with jagged guitar. Not Richard & Her Majesty are led by Rich Fownes, another former Eighties Matchbox member who went on to join Nine Inch Nails before becoming part of Duke Spirit. Sounds Mint are a newer name, though they've already supported Gorillaz and Blur. Blitzer open the night.
Between the headliners and the support, the bill draws from a few different corners of the scene. You've got the synth-pop and jagged guitar of McKnight, the seasoned experience of Fownes, and a newer act that's already shared stages with some of the biggest names in the business. The whole thing is put together by Hidden Herd, who've billed this as one of the best line-ups they've pulled together.
