Hidden Herd presents a music discovery night with emerging artists at The Hope & Ruin, headlined by Kamran Khan.
Kamran Khan headlines The Hope & Ruin on Thursday 5 November, part of Hidden Herd Presents, Brighton's new music discovery night that spotlights emerging artists, ones-to-watch and hidden gems. He's joined by Finnian James, Jonique and Freya Eastcott.
Khan has been a presence in London's indie scene for a decade, first as Fake Laugh and later as the vocalist for pencil, a band that earned a nod from BBC Radio 6 Music. Under Fake Laugh, he released the viral hit 'Better for Me', which has run up over 20 million streams, and toured with The Japanese House, Flyte and Let's Eat Grandma. He also co-wrote 'Speech Bubble' for Flyte and collaborated with Amber Bain on 'Personally'.
Born in Berlin to a Pakistani father and an English mother, he describes the name Kamran Khan as a 'cultural compromise' between his Islamic and European heritage. His debut album, I Came From Nowhere & Nowhere Is Where I Am Going, reframes family trauma, substance abuse and career shortcomings as bright, melodic alt-rock, and has been championed by The Line of Best Fit and Rough Trade.
