A weekly series transforming Helm Gallery into a late-night cocktail bar featuring street art, live tattoos, and DJ sets.
Helm Gallery, situated at 15 North Road, is introducing a different way to spend your Friday nights with their weekly series, ‘Take The Streets’. Starting today, 13th February 2026, the space moves away from its daytime identity as a quiet art library and gallery, transforming instead into a late-night cocktail bar. The exhibition itself is centred on street art and urban culture, aiming to provide an alternative look at how we spend our weekends in Brighton. It’s less about a formal viewing and more about creating an immersive environment where the art serves as a backdrop for a social evening.

On Fridays, the activities usually kick off between 18:00 and 19:00. The evenings are quite varied, featuring live DJ sets and even live tattooing sessions by artist Skillip Mitchell. This mix of cocktails and urban craft gives the gallery a different energy than you might expect from a typical exhibition space. The music continues into the weekend with a focus on emerging talent; for example, on 15th February, the DJ Deadright will be performing at 19:00, playing a selection of funk, garage, and house. It’s a programme that seems to lean towards a younger crowd or anyone who appreciates contemporary art and electronic music in a more inclusive, creative setting.
The event is free to attend, which makes it a flexible option if you’re already in the city centre. However, because the gallery isn't an enormous venue, they strongly suggest booking a table beforehand to ensure you have a place to sit. This series is a long-term fixture for the spring, with the confirmed schedule running every week until 22nd May 2026. It offers a consistent opportunity to see how the space at Helm Gallery evolves from a daytime creative hub into a night-time spot for Brighton’s urban art scene.
