Gyasi plays The Prince Albert on Saturday 19 September, one of only three UK dates on his tour. It's a rock and roll show presented by Punk Rock Blues, and the Brighton room leans into the glam rock attitude, blues-toned guitar work and classic rock and roll swing scaled to a compact venue.
There's a bit of a story to the name: it's pronounced 'Jah-see'. Gyasi grew up in the woods of a West Virginia holler and still plays the guitar his parents bought him at a local flea market when he was six years old. He treats his music as an all-encompassing art piece, pulling in fashion and storytelling alongside the guitar to build a world around the songs. His debut full-length vinyl is out on Alive Records.
The set evolves night to night, threading blues, glam and rock into a single, tightly focused show. With only three UK dates, Brighton is one of the few chances to catch him on this run. It's an afternoon gig, so you'll be out by early evening rather than late into the night.
