Grandmas House play The Hope & Ruin on Friday 20 November. They're a Bristol-based band, and they describe themselves as female, queer, and unapologetic. They started as a space to scream about the things they care about, and they're driven by a desire to close the gap of inequality in the music industry.
Their sound pulls from post-punk, 70s punk, indie, and pop, all held together by a DIY attitude and high energy. Critics have compared their vocals to The Raincoats and Motörhead, and their musical style to a mix of Courtney Barnett and The Slits. They've supported IDLES, Pigs x7, Katy J Pearson, and TV Priest.
Their track ‘Always Happy’ was featured on the Apple TV series Bad Sisters, and their self-titled debut EP, released in October 2021 on Brace Yourself Records, got praise from DIY, Dork, and NME. The band is Yasmin, Zoe, Polly, and Poppy.
