Stand-up comedy show The Lady is a Tramp by Grace Campbell at Theatre Royal, exploring personal contradictions and life upheavals.
Grace Campbell brings her solo stand-up hour The Lady is a Tramp to Theatre Royal on Thursday 10 December, starting at 19:30. It's a single hour of comedy, with Campbell as the sole act on stage.
Much of the set comes from the contradictions she finds in her own personality. She talks about the pressure to present a consistent version of herself and her resistance to fitting neatly into one, and rather than treating those gaps as problems to resolve, she treats them as material to work with. Her style is described as a blend of the loud and the anxious, the deeply spiritual and the overtly materialistic, delivered with razor-sharp wit and oscillating between moments of grace and the disgraced. The starting point for the comedy is her own life, and the themes she works through include personal upheaval, starting again, and the distance between the different sides of her personality.
