A big band and swing show recreating the golden age of the 1940s and 50s, featuring the Moonlight Serenade Orchestra UK.
The Moonlight Serenade Orchestra UK are playing Komedia on Monday 21 December, as part of their national tour. The show is called Glenn Miller & Big Band Spectacular, and it's a two-hour set that works its way through the big band and swing hits of the 1940s and 50s.
They're recreating the million-sellers that made band leaders like Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey and Duke Ellington worldwide names. You'll hear Moonlight Serenade, Little Brown Jug, Pennsylvania 6-5000, Take The A Train, One O'Clock Jump and Opus One — the kind of chart-toppers that defined the era. Alongside those, they bring in the cool-vibe classics from swing vocalists like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, so it's not just the big band sound; there's the singing side of things in there too.
It's a full evening's worth of music, with the set running for two hours. The whole thing is built around that golden age of big band and swing, and they're taking it across the country on tour, with this being the Brighton stop.
