A dance music collective performance in Soundsystem and live band format, featuring House, Soul, and Disco inspired by the last 50 years of club culture.
On Friday, 3rd April, which falls on Good Friday this year, The Hope & Ruin will be hosting the dance music collective Girls of the Internet. Led by Tom Kerridge, the group is scheduled to perform in a format that combines a live band with a soundsystem setup. Since they started in 2017, their work has been defined by a specific manifesto: creating dance music that looks back at the genre's origins while incorporating the knowledge and sounds of the last 50 years. This results in a mix that covers House, Deep House, Soul, Disco, and Garage, aiming for a sound that feels both established and contemporary.

The collective’s name is a nod to the Eighties Ladies album Ladies of the 80s, and that vintage influence carries through to their ethos. They are vocal about maintaining an inclusive environment, specifically stating that their shows are spaces for people of all sexualities, gender expressions, and body types. It’s an effort to bring back the original, community-focused roots of the club scene. The event in Brighton is part of a larger 2026 international tour, with the group also making stops in cities like London, Berlin, and Manchester.
In terms of the schedule, the evening is set to run from 19:00 to 22:30. While some local listings still show prices as "TBC," the event is confirmed as a paid performance with booking available through platforms like Skiddle. For those who follow the group’s output closely, there is also official 2026 tour merchandise available, including posters and hoodies. It’s a straightforward opportunity to see a group that places as much importance on the social history of dance music as they do on the production itself, all within the familiar setting of one of Brighton’s central venues during the bank holiday weekend.
