Chamber music concert by the Gildas Quartet, performing works by Bridge, Alwyn, Britten and Matthews C, as part of the Brighton Dome Coffee Concert Series.
The Gildas Quartet play the Corn Exchange at Brighton Dome on Sunday 20 September, as part of the Dome's Coffee Concert Series for 2026/27. It's a chamber music afternoon, and the programme brings together four names from different eras: Bridge, Alwyn, Britten and Matthews C. If you're not familiar with them, it's a broad spread of 20th-century British music, with the more established names like Britten and Bridge sitting alongside Alwyn and Matthews.
On stage are Tom Aldren, Gemma Sharples and Christine Anderson. The Gildas Quartet is the main draw here, and they're one of several ensembles coming through the Coffee Concerts this season. The series also features the Regency Quartet, a group formed at the Royal Academy of Music in 2021 that picked up the Royal Overseas League Strings and Keyboard Ensembles category in 2025, so if you're into chamber music, there's a bit of a run of it to follow across the year.
