Acid Box Presents Ghost Funk Orchestra (+ Support) live at Komedia Brighton. The 10-piece band performs a sonic kaleidoscope of soul, psych rock, and salsa. Ages 14+.
If you're looking for something a bit different to shake up your Tuesday night this spring, mark your calendar for March 24, 2026. Acid Box Presents is bringing the Ghost Funk Orchestra to the Komedia Basement in Brighton. This isn't your average band; GFO started as the brainchild of composer and multi-instrumentalist Seth Applebaum but has ballooned into a powerful 10-piece live ensemble. Their sound is often described as a sonic kaleidoscope, which is a pretty good way to put it, mixing heavy influences from soul and psych rock with elements of salsa and other genres. It’s the kind of genre-defying music that has earned them praise from places like Bandcamp and Brooklyn Vegan, and it promises a big, vibrant sound in the intimate setting of the Basement.

The show is happening at the usual Komedia spot, 44-47 Gardner Street, BN1 1UN, and since it’s specifically in the Basement, expect a standing show format. Doors open relatively early at 7:30 PM (19:30), which is good news if you like to catch the support act—yes, there is one confirmed. If you plan on getting there right when the doors open, the venue is running a nice little deal: you can grab 20% off most drinks (excluding wine bottles) during that first hour. This is definitely a gig for those who appreciate music that pulls from multiple corners of the globe and doesn't stick to one lane; a local NY blog, Post-Trash, described their sound as a "psychedelic odyssey of traditional sounds delivered in a non-traditional way."
For those interested in going, tickets are currently listed around £16.83. Given the size of the band and the complexity of their arrangements, that seems like a solid price point for a full evening of music. Just a heads up on the entry rules: the event is open to ages 14 and up, but anyone under 16 needs to be accompanied by an adult. So, if you’re ready for a Tuesday night dose of high-energy, genre-blending funk and psych, the Ghost Funk Orchestra’s UK tour stop in Brighton on March 24th is where you need to be.
