ĠENN play The Green Door Store on Thursday 19 November. It's a Brighton date in the middle of a run that takes them across the south coast from 10 to 26 November, so if you're around that week, this is the one to catch.

They're a quartet led by singer Leona Farrugia, with Janelle Borg on guitar, Leanne Zammit on bass and Sofia Rosa Cooper on drums. The name comes from the Maltese word for frenzy, which gives you a fair idea of where they're coming from. Their latest release is the EP Liminal, which came out in March 2026 through the London indie label Everything Sucks Music. It's the record they're touring, so expect a good chunk of the set to be drawn from there.

As for what that actually sounds like, the band has cited a wide-ranging list of influences: Baxter Drury, Metronomy, LCD Soundsystem, Captain Beefheart and Warpaint. That's a lot of ground to cover in one breath, and it explains why they're hard to pin down. Critics have described their sound as moving beyond a Riot Grrrl reputation towards something more experimental and neo-psychedelic, so if you're into post-punk that's not afraid to wander off the beat, this should be right up your street.

It's a mid-week gig at The Green Door Store, and since it's part of a wider tour, it's one of the few chances to see them in the city this autumn. If you've not heard Liminal yet, it's worth a listen before the night.
