The concert is scheduled for The Hope & Ruin, found at 10–12 Queens Road, BN1 3WA. If you were planning your evening, note the slight difference in timings: while some listings suggest a 19:30 start, the venue's own schedule indicates the main event runs from 20:00 until 23:00. Unfortunately, if you haven't already secured your spot, the show is currently SOLD OUT. The original guide price for tickets was around £17.60. It is also important to remember that this is strictly an event for those over 18 years old.
GBH’s influence on the UK punk scene is undeniable. Originally known as Charged GBH, they cemented their sound with their 1982 LP, City Baby Attacked By Rats, characterized by tracks that were loud, fast, and typically under three minutes long. They officially dropped the 'Charged' part of their name in 1984. Their music offers a raw look at cultural critique, often exploring heavy themes like violence, atheism, and nihilism. For instance, their lyrics have tackled subjects as specific as the graphic experience of the passengers of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 in the song 'Passenger On The Menu'. This depth of content, combined with their aggressive UK82 style, is what makes their first appearance at The Hope & Ruin a notable moment for anyone interested in the roots of street punk.
