Gaudete!

Green Matthews bring their Christmas show Gaudete! to the Brighton Dome on Friday 11 December, playing in the Studio Theatre. It's a festive concert built around songs, tunes and carols from the past, with new arrangements of popular Christmas music.

The repertoire covers 600 years, from the Middle Ages through to the 20th century, and pulls from Christmas carols, winter folk songs and a good few unusual instruments. It's not a single-era thing, so you'll hear music from very different times sitting alongside each other. Gaudete! follows twelve years of successful touring Christmas shows by Green Matthews, and this version is played by an expanded line-up in new arrangements of Chris and Sophie's popular festive fare.

On stage, Green Matthews are joined by Emily Baines on early woodwinds and Richard Heacock on violin. Bill Barclay, Director of Music at Shakespeare's Globe, called them 'awesome'.

Doors open at 6.45pm, with the music starting at 19:30. Tickets are £18, with under-25s paying £16, and Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival members save £2 on full-price tickets. Under-14s must be accompanied by an adult.
