The UK's longest-running comedy night showcasing new female and non-binary stand-up talent. Ages 18+.
If you're looking for a reliable comedy fix in Brighton, you probably already know about the monthly Funny Women night at Komedia. This isn't just any comedy show; it’s actually the longest-running and most successful Funny Women event in the UK, having established itself as a key fixture in the city's cultural calendar. The whole point of the organization, founded by Lynne Parker in 2002, is to nurture and promote new female and non-binary talent, often featuring acts straight from the Funny Women Awards circuit alongside established professionals. If you want to catch the show this summer, mark your calendar for Saturday, July 25, 2026.

The venue is the familiar Komedia Brighton, located at 44-47 Gardner Street. Specifically, the show takes place in the more intimate Komedia Studio. Doors open at 7:30 PM, giving you half an hour to settle in before the comedy kicks off promptly at 8:00 PM. Seating is unreserved, so if you have a preferred spot, it's worth arriving early. It’s important to note that this is an adult event, strictly AGES 18+. While the focus is on promoting women in comedy, the atmosphere is genuinely inclusive; Broadway Baby once described it as a show that "provides something for everyone," clarifying that it is absolutely not "an anti-male gathering, and everyone is welcome."
Since this is a regular fixture, the July 25th date is just one part of their extensive 2026 schedule, which runs monthly and includes confirmed dates like February 28, March 28, April 25, June 27, September 26, October 31, and November 28. Tickets are reasonably priced for a night out: £12.00 Standard or £10.00 Concession, and you can book them directly through Komedia's system. Beyond the laughs and supporting new talent, attending the show also supports a great local cause, as Funny Women uses the night to back the charity RISE, which provides essential services to women and children affected by domestic violence in the area.
