Debut stand-up hour by character comedian Freddie Meredith, who unpacks masculinity, fame and the algorithm.
Freddie Meredith brings his debut comedy hour, Need A Light?, to Komedia on Wednesday 31 March. It's a character show, so you'll see him stepping into different roles rather than just standing at the mic as himself. The hour is directed by Luke McQueen and produced by Country Mile Productions, and it's playing in the Komedia Studio.
As for what it's actually about, Meredith describes Need A Light? as an hour that unpacks masculinity, fame and the algorithm, all while he soft-launches himself to strangers. If that sounds a bit abstract, the reviews give a clearer sense of the vibe: The Telegraph called him 'a David Brent for the TikTok age', and Jamie Demetriou named him 'my favourite new voice in British comedy'. The Standard went for 'one of the brightest new stars in British comedy'.
It's a debut hour, so this is Meredith's first full show of his own. He's already a familiar face from SNL UK and Such Brave Girls, and he was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, so he's not exactly starting from scratch. The show is recommended for ages 16 and over.
