A four-day Brazilian dance festival featuring workshops, live music, and social dancing on the Brighton seafront.
If you have spent any time walking along the Brighton seafront, you might have noticed how the space around the Brighton Bandstand often becomes a hub for different community activities. This July, the area is set to host Forró À Beira Mar, a four-day festival dedicated to forró, a traditional partner dance originating from the northeast of Brazil. The event is organised by the local dance community Forró By The Sea, which was established by Jules Francis and Adenilson Papini.

The festival is scheduled to run from 16 to 19 July 2026. The programme is structured to accommodate a range of experience levels, offering workshops for both absolute beginners and those who have been dancing for years. These sessions are led by international instructors, and the evenings transition into social dancing events featuring live music and DJs. It is a structured format that aims to provide a space for people to practice and socialise, regardless of whether they arrive with a partner or on their own.
Beyond the workshops, there is a specific focus on an outdoor event taking place on the Saturday afternoon. This part of the festival is designed to be family-friendly and includes access to Brazilian food stalls alongside live music performances. The organisers have set up various ticketing options for those interested in attending, which range from full festival passes to single-day tickets and specific party-only entries. It is a straightforward setup that allows attendees to choose the level of involvement that suits their schedule.
