Indie-folk project Family Stereo, the project of singer-songwriter Blake Watt, plays The Hope & Ruin on Queens Road.
Family Stereo play The Hope & Ruin on Saturday 6 March, a Brighton show presented by JOY. It's the indie-folk project of London-based singer-songwriter Blake Watt, who started it back in 2018. Since then he's put out several self-released EPs, and the set will draw from that catalogue alongside material from his debut album, which was set for release in the summer of 2026.
His sound sits at a few different intersections: rich lyrics and an intricate, finger-picked guitar style paired with distorted folk-rock, alt-country and dreamlike soundscapes. It's that combination of the detailed acoustic work and the heavier, more atmospheric elements that gives the project its particular character. The debut album marks the first full-length record to follow those early EPs, so the show will bring together the newer songs and the older material he's been playing since the project began.
