Ezra Collective: Album Launch Terrace Party

Ezra Collective are coming to Concorde 2 on Sunday 20 September for a terrace party to launch their new album, Here Because of Hope, which arrives this autumn on Partisan Records. It's their fourth record, and they've described it as their most ambitious and personal work to date. The album is split into three spiritual and geographical movements that trace the movement of Black people across continents and decades: from the music of Africa, through the rhythms of the Caribbean, and on to the streets of London. Bandleader Femi Koleoso calls it the group's first record as adults, a journey from pain to joy with hope as the connective thread.

The quintet — Femi Koleoso, TJ Koleoso, Joe Armon-Jones, James Mollison and Ife Ogunjobi — formed in London youth clubs and have spent more than a decade making jazz joyful, urgent and undeniable. Along the way they've picked up a Mercury Prize and a BRIT Award. For this launch, they're swapping the packed in-stores they've played before for a seafront terrace party at Concorde 2, so it's more of an outdoor afternoon and evening than a standard gig.

The set is a DJ set, and entry requires preordering the album, which goes directly towards the band's UK chart success. It runs from 18:30 to 22:00 on Sunday 20 September at Concorde 2, Madeira Drive, BN2 1EN, with tickets at a guide price of £21.
