English Cheese & Wine Tasting with Plumpton Estate

Plumpton Estate are hosting an English cheese and wine tasting at One Garden Brighton on Thursday 10 September, from 19:00 to 21:30. It's a pairing night run in partnership with the estate and guided by Plumpton College's Wine Department, so you'll be tasting through the wines with the people who actually teach the subject.

The evening works around up to six tastings of Plumpton Estate's English wines, each paired with Sussex and English cheeses from Alsop & Walker. The cheeses aren't just thrown in as an afterthought, either: Alsop & Walker have worked with the college for years, and their Woodside Red was named best new cheese in Britain in 2019. Between the wine and the cheese, you're getting a proper look at what's being produced right here in the county.

As for the setting, One Garden Brighton is a free-to-enter destination garden in Stanmer Park, and the tasting is held on the event lawns beneath a stretch tent, weather permitting. If the rain rolls in, it moves inside One Kitchen, which looks out over the walled garden. The same grounds host the venue's wider programme throughout the year, including the August Bank Holiday food festival and the Melting Sundown music festival, so it's a spot that sees plenty of activity across the seasons.
