Scottish singer-songwriter Emma Pollock performs her first Brighton show in 11 years at The Prince Albert. Accompanied by Graeme Smillie, she presents tracks from her 2025 album 'Begging The Night To Take Hold' alongside career highlights.
Emma Pollock is returning to Brighton on Thursday, 2nd April 2026, for a show at The Prince Albert. It has been eleven years since she last performed in the city, making this a significant date for those who have followed her career since her time as a co-founder of The Delgados and the influential Chemikal Underground label. This performance at 48 Trafalgar Street is part of the tour for her fourth solo album, Begging The Night To Take Hold, which was released in the autumn of 2025. Rather than a full band setup, she will be performing in a duo format alongside Graeme Smillie, who handles bass and keyboards, accompanied by some yet-to-be-announced special guests.

The setting at The Prince Albert is quite specific; with a capacity limited to just 100 people, the atmosphere is likely to be quite focused. Pollock’s music has often been noted for its lyrical depth and a certain vocal clarity that tends to suit these smaller, more immediate spaces. For anyone familiar with the local scene, you’ll know the upstairs room provides a very different experience compared to the larger venues in town, which seems to align with the indie and rock arrangements of her latest material. It is a chance to hear the new songs and older tracks in a setting where the songwriting really takes the lead.
In terms of the logistics, doors are scheduled to open at 20:00. The event is restricted to those aged 18 and over, so keep that in mind if you are planning to head down. Tickets are generally priced at £22.00, including booking fees, though there is some variation depending on where you buy them; advance tickets are often around £20.00, while any remaining entries at the door will be £24.00. You can find them through platforms like See Tickets, DICE, or TicketSwap. Melting Vinyl is promoting the night, and given the small capacity and the length of time since her last visit, it is a fairly straightforward opportunity to see a veteran of the Scottish indie scene in an environment that suits her current sound.
