Elvana

Elvana play Concorde 2 on Friday 11 December, their take on Nirvana with an Elvis twist. They're a tribute act from Newcastle that mashes grunge and rockabilly, and the whole thing is fronted by an Elvis impersonator. The set mixes Nirvana classics with Elvis moments, and the Brighton show is billed as 'Celebrating 35 Years of Nevermind'.

If you're not familiar, the name gives it away: Elvana is Elvis meets Nirvana. It's a high-octane tribute that puts an Elvis-style front on Nirvana's songs, so you'll hear the grunge of the 90s played with a rock'n'roll energy. The 35th anniversary of Nevermind provides the focus for the night, and the set leans into the songs that made that album a landmark. It's a tribute to two very different eras of music meeting on one stage.

Concorde 2 is a live music venue and nightclub in the Madeira Shelter Hall on the seafront, and it's been running for over two decades. It's one of the city's most established rooms, and over the years it's hosted the likes of Bloc Party, The White Stripes, The Kooks, Kaiser Chiefs and Scissor Sisters. It's a proper gig space, and this is one of the nights it's hosting this winter.
