Desperate Journalist play The Hope & Ruin on Saturday 7 November, with the set starting at 7:30 pm. They're a post-punk band from London, and this is a headline show — just them on the bill.
If you're not familiar with their discography, it runs from No Hero through to Good Luck, with the EPs Organ and Cristina sitting alongside. It's a decent run of records to have under your belt before the night, so there's plenty to get stuck into if you want to come prepared.

The venue is The Hope & Ruin, a 150-capacity room sitting above a busy pub. It's a space that handles a fair bit of variety: live shows from local and international artists, a regular poetry night, and the odd late-night club. There's a bar upstairs serving draft lagers, beers and ciders, plus the venue's own Hope & Ruin Mosaic Pale Ale, and a ground-floor bar to hang out in before and after the gig. The room closes at midnight Sunday to Wednesday and at 2am Thursday to Saturday, so on a Saturday night there's plenty of time to linger after the music stops. Desperate Journalist start at 7:30 pm.
