Deacon Blue perform their 40th anniversary show at the Brighton Centre, recreating their debut album Raintown live.
Deacon Blue play The Brighton Centre on Sunday 17 October 2027, as part of their 40th anniversary tour. The whole night is built around their debut album, Raintown, which they'll be performing in full.
It's a long way back to where it started. Raintown came out in 1987, an evocative portrait of city life that gave them early classics like 'Dignity' and 'Chocolate Girl'. They're Scottish pop rock titans who emerged from Glasgow in the mid-1980s and have sold more than seven million albums, led by husband-and-wife songwriting duo Ricky Ross and Lorraine McIntosh. The band took its name from a Steely Dan song.
Their reach climbed with When the World Knows Your Name in 1989, which topped the UK Albums Chart and produced their first UK Top Ten hit, 'Real Gone Kid'. After stepping away in the mid-1990s, they returned with Walking Back Home in 1999 and Homesick in 2001, the final album to feature guitarist Graeme Kelling, who died in 2004. A creative resurgence followed with The Hipsters in 2012, and in 2025 they released their eleventh studio album, The Great Western Road, recorded at Rockfield Studios. This 2027 tour marks the 40th anniversary of Raintown, performed in full.
