Concert by DBA!, a garage rock and indie band from Liverpool, blending 90s alternative influences.
DBA! play The Hope & Ruin on Thursday 1 October, from 19:30 to 23:00. It's a single-act bill, so they're the only name on the poster for the night.
If you haven't come across them yet, the band's origin story is a bit of a thing in itself. They emerged from the gritty underbelly of Liverpool's music scene in early 2024, born in a DIY demo studio tucked into the literal basement drain of a Liverpool nightclub. It's a proper basement-band start, and that raw, unpolished edge still sits at the heart of what they do.
Their sound pulls from 90s alternative rock, garage rock and indie, and they're open about where they're drawing from: Eels, Pavement, The Breeders, Elastica and Beck. If those names ring a bell, you've got a good handle on the territory they cover. Their debut single, 'sinkorswim', came out in late 2024 and picked up BBC Radio 6's 'track of the week', and the debut EP that followed in April 2025 landed them the cover of DORK magazine's HYPE playlist. Since then, they've been working their way across the UK and abroad, supporting White Denim and Being Dead, headlining Supersonic in Paris and joining Left of the Dial in Rotterdam. This is one of those gigs that catches them after they've put in the miles on the road.
