A work in progress comedy show by Daniel Kitson, described as an evolving performance piece.
Daniel Kitson is bringing his Work In Progress show to The Old Market in Brighton this July. He has two dates scheduled at the venue: Monday 27 July and Wednesday 29 July 2026. There is no performance on the Tuesday between those dates. It’s a specific kind of show, as the title suggests, and it’s currently in the middle of its development phase. Kitson began working on this material back in mid-January, and with a deadline to have the final version ready by August, the current state of the show is, in his own words, "a lot of marble and not much sculpture." This means the audience will be seeing the material while it is still being shaped, rather than a finished, static performance.

Because this is a work in progress, the content is still shifting. Kitson describes the show as an attempt to create something better than his previous work, aiming for a tone that is "hopefully funny, maybe a bit sad, intermittently thought provoking, slightly audacious and, ideally, completely unfathomable." It’s a look at the creative process, where the structure is still being carved out rather than presented as a finished, polished piece. The show is recommended for those aged 16 and over, and it’s designed to run for a maximum of 90 minutes without an interval.
The venue for these dates is The Old Market, located at 11A Upper Market St, Brighton and Hove, BN3 1AS. If you are planning to go, it is worth noting that the shows are currently marked as sold out on the official website. For those still looking for tickets, the venue recommends using Twickets for official resale. Doors open at 18:45, and the performance itself begins at 19:30 on both nights. Tickets are priced at £8.
