Pop-up exhibition bringing a curated collection of rare independent magazines from around the world to the cinema.
Cover Story is taking over Dukes at Komedia on Saturday 3 October and Sunday 4 October, bringing a curated collection of rare independent magazines from around the world into the cinema. It's a pop-up exhibition rather than a screening, so you'll be browsing through pages instead of watching a screen.
The selection pulls together hard-to-find titles from across fashion, art, photography, music, culture, literature and niche publishing. Because it's curated, you're not just getting a random stack of zines; it's a cross-section of independent publishing from different countries, with the more obscure titles taking centre stage. If you're into the kind of print that doesn't usually make it onto a high street shelf, this is exactly where you'll find it.
This particular takeover is part of a wider series of pop-ups Cover Story is running across Brighton. The longer-term aim is to establish a permanent home for independent magazines in the city, so this is one of the stops on the way to that. If you've been following their other pop-ups, you'll know the format: a curated selection of print brought to a temporary space for a few days.
