Feel-good, fast-paced night of fantastic new comedy featuring rising stars and a top headline comic at the award-winning Komedia Basement. Strictly Ages 18+.
If you’re looking for a reliable night out where the comedy is guaranteed to be sharp, the Comic Boom Comedy Club at Komedia is always a safe bet. It’s known for being a feel-good, fast-paced evening focused on new talent, structured around a fabulous MC, a selection of exciting rising stars, and a top headline comic. Founded back in 2005 by Jill Edwards, this club has serious pedigree. It’s consistently recognized for its quality, having won the CHORTLE AWARD for Best Southern/Eastern Comedy Venue 18 times, including the last three years running (2023, 2024, and 2025). Quotes like 'The cream of the current comedy crop' really sum up the standard they maintain.

The reason for that reputation is clear when you look at who started here. Comedians like Romesh Ranganathan, Sara Pascoe, James Acaster, Seann Walsh, Angela Barnes, and Nish Kumar all cut their teeth on the Comic Boom stage. While the specific lineup for the upcoming show isn't out yet—and remember, lineups are always subject to change—you can usually expect quality, with regulars like Esther Manito, Mike Cox, and Paul F Taylor often taking the MC spot. The next date we have marked is Thursday, May 28, 2026, which fits their usual schedule of running on the last Thursday of every month.
The show takes place in the intimate setting of the Komedia Basement at 44-47 Gardner Street. Doors open at 6:30 PM, giving you an hour to settle in before the show kicks off at 7:30 PM. Tickets are reasonably priced at £10, or £8 if you qualify for concessions. Just remember it’s strictly for those AGES 18+. Seating is unreserved cabaret style, so if you want a specific spot, it’s worth getting there when the doors open. If you get peckish, they do have a snack menu available, and it’s good to know that the venue is fully wheelchair accessible, with staff known for being helpful regarding support needs.
