A family-friendly stand-up comedy show featuring professional comedians who adapt their material for children aged 6 and over and their families.
If you're planning ahead for things to do in town this spring, the Comedy Club 4 Kids is heading back to Komedia on Saturday, 9th May 2026. It’s a bit of a different take on the usual family entertainment, essentially lifting the format of a standard comedy club—complete with stand-up, sketches, and cabaret—and making it accessible for a younger crowd. The performers are professional comedians from the UK and international circuits who adapt their usual club sets by stripping out the swearing and adult themes. It’s a formula that seems to be working well, especially considering the production was recently recognised with the Victoria Wood Edinburgh Comedy Award 2025.

The event is held in the Komedia Basement on Gardner Street, with the show starting at 2:00 PM. Doors open at 1:30 PM, and since seating is unreserved, it’s helpful to get there early to find a spot together. The performance runs for about 60 minutes, which usually fits well into a Saturday afternoon without taking up the whole day. While the material is geared towards children aged six and older, the organisers do require that anyone under 16 is accompanied by an adult. They generally look for a ratio of one adult for every three or four children to keep things running smoothly during the set.
In terms of cost, individual tickets are £9.50, but there is a family of four bundle available for £35. Beyond the live shows, the organisation behind it also runs a comedy academy and produces a podcast, so they have a fair amount of experience in tailoring comedy for this specific age group. If you can't make the May date, they have already scheduled a couple of return visits to Brighton later in the year, with performances confirmed for 17th October and 12th December 2026. It’s a straightforward option for those who want to introduce their kids to the stand-up circuit in a space that’s familiar to most locals, without the usual evening club atmosphere.
