Close To Monday bring their UK tour to The Hope & Ruin on Saturday 26 September, arriving fresh from the studio after working with Gareth Jones — the producer behind Depeche Mode, Erasure and Interpol. Their sound blends the atmospheric textures of new wave with the energy of electro-rock and the pulse of modern dance music, so it's a set that sits somewhere between a dark dancefloor and a proper gig.
They're not alone on the bill. Support comes from Larlin, a Brighton band formed in 2024 and fronted by Sheffield-born songwriter Maryann Hoar, who works with producers Lewis Foord (Wet Leg, Kid Kapichi) and Cameron Nesbitt (Lovejoy, James Marriott). Opening the night is Lynnie Snow, an alternative singer-songwriter who grew up near Portsmouth and started writing songs at 13, producing her own music throughout lockdown; she lists Kate Bush, Mitski and David Bowie as the artists who shaped her world.
The Hope & Ruin is a 150-capacity room above a busy pub on Queens Road, which hosts live shows from local and international artists alongside a regular poetry night and the odd late-night club. The bar serves draft lagers, beers, ciders and the venue's own Hope & Ruin Mosaic Pale Ale. The show is presented by Untold Story Music Group LTD and is 18+.
