The 24th CINECITY Brighton Film Festival, with its opening film 'I See Buildings Fall Like Lightning' and closing film 'Elsinore' starring Andrew Scott.
CINECITY The Brighton Film Festival returns for its 24th edition from 6 to 15 November, with the main hub at Dukes at Komedia in North Laine. It's the city's annual cinema celebration, and this year it runs across ten days, bringing together international films, director Q&As, archive discoveries and live soundtracks—many of them before they've even had their UK release.
The programme opens on 6 November with I See Buildings Fall Like Lightning by Clio Barnard and closes on 15 November with Elsinore, starring Andrew Scott. Between those two, the line-up pulls from world cinema alongside local filmmaking, and includes the Brighton Screendance Festival presented by South East Dance. There's also a partnership with Melting Vinyl to present the 1925 silent horror classic The Phantom of the Opera, accompanied by a new live score.
While Dukes at Komedia (44-47 Gardner Street, BN1 1UN) is the main base, screenings run across several other venues: the Duke of York's Picturehouse, Depot in Lewes, the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts, Fabrica and The Dance Space. CINECITY describes the festival as taking visitors on adventures in world cinema, with festival previews, live cinema and archive treasures at the heart of the line-up.
