Chas Leman performs live in Brighton as part of his 'Repetitive Strain' EP tour, showcasing his new electronic-influenced sound and social commentary.
Chas Leman is bringing his 'Repetitive Strain' EP tour to Brighton on Friday, 27 March 2026. He will be performing at The Bee's Mouth, located at 10 Western Road, Hove, BN3 1AE, with the show starting at 19:30. This tour marks a shift from the organic, instrument-heavy sound of his 2025 debut album, 'Wish The Clock Would Go Back', which drew comparisons to artists like Elvis Costello and David Bowie. Instead, this new material leans into electronic production, incorporating programmed beats, vintage and modern synthesisers, and vocoder effects.

The EP itself is a four-track collection that explores the realities of the 9-to-5 grind and the challenges of maintaining a social life amidst the current cost-of-living crisis. The tracks include 'WASHING MACHINE WEEK', which serves as a metaphor for repetitive work, 'THE GOOD LIFE?', 'THE REAL WORLD', and the central piece, 'THIS IS LIFE'. Produced alongside A. Charles, the sound draws inspiration from the indie-electronic scene of the 2000s, specifically referencing the early work of The Streets and Gorillaz. Leman describes the project as a reflection on human resilience and our ability to adapt to modern pressures.
For those planning to attend, tickets are priced at £9.00, with some platforms adding a £0.90 booking fee. The venue, The Bee's Mouth, offers an intimate setting that aligns with Leman’s preference for smaller spaces over larger auditoriums. The show is generally recommended for those aged 14 and over, though those under 18 should be accompanied by an adult. If you are a fan of artists like Hot Chip, Dry Cleaning, or Getdown Services, this performance provides a look at Leman’s current direction as he moves away from his earlier lounge-pop style toward this more electronic, socially-conscious sound.
