A charity karaoke night at The Market Inn to mark Pride Month, raising funds for the Terrence Higgins Trust.
The Market Inn on Market Street is hosting a charity karaoke night to mark Pride Month, with all funds going to the Terrence Higgins Trust. It's the UK's first HIV and AIDS charity, set up in response to the epidemic, and the pub is known as a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community.

There are two nights to choose from. The first is Friday 4 July at 19:00, which falls on the anniversary of the Terrence Higgins Trust. The second is Saturday 17 July. Both run on a 'pay to play' basis, so you donate to take your turn on the mic. Between the singing, there'll be raffles with prizes donated by local businesses and prizes for the karaoke participants themselves. You don't need to be any good to get involved, either โ the invitation is open to everyone regardless of their singing voice.
The hosting changes between the two dates. The 4 July night is led by Lazy Susan, a drag act, alongside Mark Machan from the Terrence Higgins Trust and a representative from EMG Music Label, who's sponsoring the event. The 17 July night is hosted by Alex, the pub's owner, with Machan and the EMG representative returning. Behind the scenes, the pub's owners, Alexander and Steve Parrish-Hislop, have put the nights together with the bar staff.
Both nights are strictly over-18s. If you're around Market Street on the 4th or the 17th, it's a straightforward way to put a few quid toward the Trust while having a sing.
