An interactive comedy show by Robin Wealleans about his quest to bring his deceased cat back to life using a custom AI device.
If you have been keeping an eye on the Brighton Fringe programme this year, you might have noticed a show called Catgpt popping up. It is a bit of an unusual concept, even by Fringe standards. The show is based on the real-life story of Robin Wealleans, a neurodivergent Welshman who found himself in a bit of a bind after a freezer accident ruined his plans for taxidermy on his late cat, Lentil. Instead of giving up, he decided to use technology to bring his pet back in a different form. He created an AI, also named Catgpt, which is essentially a suitcase-sized device packed with tech, a meow synthesizer, laser pointers, and even a minibar.

What makes this show stand out is that it is interactive. The AI is fed with the history of the cat and feline psychology, and it acts as a life coach during the performance. You can actually ask it questions live, and it responds in real-time. It is described as a mix of humour, neurodivergent logic, and science, touching on themes of love and loss. It is happening on Saturday, 30 May 2026, at the Komedia Studio on Gardner Street. Doors open at 17:00, and the show starts at 17:30.
Regarding the logistics, the standard ticket price is £13.00, with a concession rate of £10.00 available. The show is generally aimed at those aged 16 and over, and there is a 'Babes in Arms' policy in place, meaning children under two are not permitted in these 18+ performances. If you are looking for something more family-friendly, there are specific 'kitten version' shows scheduled for 28 and 31 May that are open to all ages. It is an interesting addition to the Brighton Fringe 2026 lineup, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and runs from 2 May through to 1 June.
