Brighton and Hove Murder Mystery: Death in the Shadows kicks off at the Royal Pavilion on Tuesday 1 September, with the same game running again on 1 October, 1 November and 1 December. It's an immersive mystery that puts you in the shoes of the city's best detective, so you're the one doing the legwork rather than just watching it unfold.

The setup is a ghost tour gone wrong: the famous travel blogger Bella Wanderlust is found dead, and it's up to you to figure out how and why. You'll spend the experience visiting real locations across Brighton, gathering clues and interrogating suspects to build your case. The suspects are already lined up: her jealous boyfriend, the eccentric tour guide, or someone else lurking in the shadows. It's a proper whodunnit, and the answer isn't handed to you on a plate.

In terms of how it actually works, the whole thing takes up to two hours and covers a one-mile radius across twelve different locations, so you'll be on your feet and moving around the city. There's no player limit per group, which makes it an easy one to bring a crowd to, and you don't need anything more than a phone to play. One ticket gets you access to the game on a single device, so if you're going with a group, everyone will need their own.
