Bremf Emerging Artists Showcase

The BREMF Emerging Artists Showcase comes to St Paul's Church on Saturday 10 October, part of the Brighton Early Music Festival. The afternoon is built around the festival's Emerging Artists scheme, which takes new ensembles and gives them a platform to perform. Each group gets a 20-minute slot to put together a programme that works its way through this year's festival theme, so you'll hear several different takes on the same idea in one sitting.

Mentoring and developing new talent has always been a big part of BREMF's ethos, and the showcase is the annual chance to hear the ensembles selected for that year's scheme. It's also a feeder for the BREMF Clubnight at The Rose Hill, so these are the groups that might be popping up elsewhere across the festival. The showcase itself sits within the Brighton Early Music Festival, one of the UK's largest and most progressive early music festivals. It was founded in 2002 and is dedicated to making music from the past 1,000 years relevant to today's audiences, rather than keeping it as a museum piece.

It's a good way to catch a few different ensembles in one go, especially if you're interested in how different groups interpret the same theme. The music spans a millennium, and the showcase is where the newer names get their first proper look-in. The whole thing kicks off at 15:00 at St Paul's Church on West Street, BN1 2RE.
