Club night returning to Komedia spinning the best disco and disco-funk hits from the 1970s for New Year's Eve.
Boogie Wonderland returns to Komedia on Thursday 31 December, bringing 70s disco and disco-funk to the basement for New Year's Eve. It's a club night that's been a regular at the venue for years, and this is one of four ways Komedia marks the night, so you can pick your own way into the new year.
The set draws from a wide spread of 70s disco, with the Bee Gees, Donna Summer, ABBA, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Gloria Gaynor among the names on the list. There's disco-funk in there too, with Chic, the Commodores, Sly and the Family Stone, and K.C. & the Sunshine Band. The selection reaches beyond the dancefloor, pulling in Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, the Jackson 5, and Hot Chocolate, and it doesn't stop at disco, with T. Rex, Kate Bush, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Elton John, Prince, David Bowie, Queen, Roxy Music, Wild Cherry, the Rolling Stones, and Blondie all part of the mix.
Komedia is an independent venue for comedy, music, arts and entertainment in Brighton and Hove, and it's well known for its comedy: the Komedia Comedy Club runs on Friday and Saturday nights and was named the Best Comedy Club in the South at the Chortle Awards 2026, while the Comic Boom Comedy Club was voted Best Open Spot Night in the South by Chortle in 2024 and 2025. Alongside comedy, the venue runs a grassroots music scene called SPOT BTN, as well as drag shows, club nights and kids' shows. Regulars have called Boogie Wonderland an institution going back more years than they care to think of, and have praised the venue's accessibility and friendly staff.
