A Pop Art, technicolour theatre version of Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors with mistaken identities and mayhem, set in New York with a Swinging Sixties vibe.
Blt Youth are bringing The Comedy of Errors to Brighton Little Theatre in March 2027. It's Shakespeare's riotous comedy, but this version swaps the original setting for New York and gives the whole thing a technicolour Pop Art makeover with a Swinging Sixties vibe. The plot follows two sets of identical twins, a seriously confused city, and a day of mistaken identities, romantic mix-ups and glorious mayhem, staged as a fast, funny celebration of what's arguably Shakespeare's most brilliantly bonkers comedy.
If you're not familiar with the play, it's the one where everything that can go wrong does, and the Pop Art approach fits that chaos well. The New York setting and sixties aesthetic mean it's less about the original period and more about the energy of the thing. It's a fast-paced production, and the whole point is the confusion, so expect a lot of double-takes and people being mistaken for someone they're not.
