American improvising saxophonist Bhob Rainey performs in a trio with Phil Durrant and Paul Khimasia Morgan, with support from Simian Carbuncle and readings by The Wire's Daniel Spicer.
Bhob Rainey plays Chimera House Studios on Saturday 21 November, part of the Aural Detritus Concert Series. He's performing in a trio with Phil Durrant and Paul Khimasia Morgan, with support from Simian Carbuncle and readings by The Wire's Daniel Spicer.
Rainey is an American improvising saxophonist, composer and sound designer, best known for his project Nmperign and for his long-running duo with Greg Kelley. He's joined here by Phil Durrant, a composer and electronicist and veteran of the London free music scene and a key figure in New London Silence, who co-organises Streatham's Sound Bureau events with Tansy Spinks. Paul Khimasia Morgan is an improvisor who works with guitar body and feedback systems and has played alongside Steve Beresford and Faradena Afifi. The night also takes in readings by Daniel Spicer, who writes for The Wire.
Opening the bill is Simian Carbuncle, the duo of Adrian Southby and Matt Clark. Between the support, the trio, and the readings, it's a full evening of improvised music and spoken word. The whole thing sits under the Aural Detritus banner, which is the concert series Chimera House is hosting.
