An Idiot's Guide to Wine comes to the Komedia Basement on Sunday 13 September, with two sessions to choose from: an afternoon show at 15:30 (doors 14:45) and an evening one at 18:30 (doors 17:45). It's an Australian import that pairs a stand-up set with a guided tasting of six internationally sourced wine varietals, so you're sipping as you listen.
The show is written and performed by comedian Merrick Watts, who bills himself as the only comedian in the world to hold a WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) Level 3 qualification. He walks the audience through the wines while delivering the comedy, pitching the evening at everyone from total beginners to seasoned connoisseurs. The whole thing runs for around 90 minutes, and the ticket price includes the tasting, so you're getting both the show and the drinks in one go. Non-alcoholic options are available for an additional fee if you'd rather skip the wine.
