BAFTA-winning Irish comedian Aisling Bea brings her new stand-up show 'Older Than Jesus' to Brighton, featuring tales of life, travel, and immigration.
Aisling Bea is bringing her new stand-up show, Older Than Jesus, to the Brighton Dome on Thursday, 12 March. The BAFTA-winning comedian, who many will recognise from Taskmaster, QI, and her own series This Way Up, is using this tour to dive into a mix of life stories and observations. The set covers a broad range of ground, from the complexities of immigration and history to more personal reflections on sex, babies, and the various lovers and enemies she’s come across. She also plans to interact with the crowd by answering life questions, all while exploring her philosophy that while the journey is important, the destinations are actually quite a big deal too.

The performance takes place in the Concert Hall on Church Street, with doors opening at 19:15 and the show starting at 20:00. If you’re looking at tickets, they are priced at £27.50, £29.50, and £31.00, though some initial guides have mentioned a starting rate of £25.50. There are discounts available depending on your situation, but keep in mind there is a strict limit of six tickets per person. The show is intended for an audience aged 16 and over, and it’s worth noting that this specific date will feature British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation by Paul Belmonte.
It’s a straightforward opportunity to see one of the regulars from Live at the Apollo and 8 Out of 10 Cats in a local venue. The show moves between tales of her Irish roots and her experiences travelling, blending music and storytelling into the stand-up format. By integrating audience questions into the night, the performance shifts away from a standard monologue into something a bit more reactive. It’s a chance to hear her take on the world today, delivered with the same energy she brings to her television work, right here in the centre of Brighton.
