Absuma are back in Brighton on Thursday 27 August, playing Hope & Ruin with Sternums and The Hangleton 5. It's a night Absuma is putting on themselves, and they've described it as a mix of bus psychedelia, head-aching punk and singalong weirdness. The whole thing is 18+.
Absuma return to the city with one objective: to play loud. They're talking about a night of clashing genres, loud guitars, bus psychedelia and angelic harmonies, and they've put together a bill that follows suit. Support comes from the punky Sternums and The Hangleton 5, whom they call the pioneers of bus-psychedelia. Between the three, the evening should run from the loud end of punk through to the more psychedelic side of things.

Hope & Ruin is a 150-capacity venue situated above a busy pub, and it hosts live shows from local and international artists alongside a regular poetry night and the odd late-night club. There's a bar serving draft lagers, beers, ciders and the venue's own Hope & Ruin Mosaic Pale Ale, plus a ground-floor bar to hang out in before and after gigs. The venue stays open until midnight Sunday to Wednesday and until 2am Thursday to Saturday, so there's plenty of time to linger after the music stops.
