If you spent the early 2010s with 'All Time Low' and 'Glad You Came' on repeat, here is something worth knowing about. The Wanted are bringing their new UK tour to Brighton, and the date is close enough to be planning around rather than just wishing for. It lands on Thursday 8 October at 19:30 at Concorde 2, which is about as intimate as a boyband gig gets.

The first thing to understand is that this is not the same line-up you remember. The Wanted 2.0 is being carried by founding members Max George and Siva Kaneswaran, who are keeping the band's name going into a new era. The original five — Max, Siva, Jay McGuiness, Tom Parker and Nathan Sykes — formed back in 2009 after a massive audition process run by Jayne Collins, and they went on to rack up over 20 million record sales, ten UK Top Ten singles and two number ones. That catalogue is exactly what this tour leans on, so expect the hits like 'Chasing The Sun', 'Walks Like Rihanna' and 'Warzone' alongside the big ones.
The venue is half the draw. Concorde 2 is a Grade II listed building at 286A Madeira Drive, right on the seafront opposite the Palace Pier, and it holds only 600 people. It started life as a set of Victorian tea rooms in the 1800s before becoming a music venue in 2000, and it has since earned its reputation as one of Brighton's best live rooms. A 600-capacity room for a band that once filled arenas is exactly why this is being billed as an intimate date.
On tickets, the starting price is £31.00 with all fees included, so there are no surprises at checkout. There is a VIP option as well, which gets you early access to the venue, a meet and greet and a photo with Max and Siva, a signed poster and a piece of merchandise. If you are taking younger fans, it is a 14+ event, and anyone under 16 needs to be with an adult aged 18 or over who can show a valid driving licence or passport and leave contact details at the door; both the adult and the under-16 will wear a wristband while on the premises. Payment at the door is cash and cheques only, though you can use a credit card or a Ticketmaster reference number to collect tickets. There is parking outside the venue, and if you need accessible seating, it is worth contacting Concorde 2 directly to sort it. One rule to be aware of: no video cameras or recording devices are allowed inside.
For context on how this fits into the wider tour, Brighton is one of many stops. The run opens at Komedia in Bath on 1 October, then hits the O2 Academy Oxford on the 2nd, Scala in London on the 6th, and continues through Southampton, Sheffield, Manchester, Coventry, Glasgow, Newcastle, Belfast and Dublin. The Brighton date sits right in the middle of that first wave, so it is a convenient one to catch if you are based on the south coast. Given the room size, it is the kind of show that fills up quickly, so it is worth sorting your tickets sooner rather than later.
