With May just around the corner, the full programme for SpiegelGardens has been released, marking its return to Brighton Fringe from 1 May to 31 May 2026. This year brings a significant change in scenery as the venue moves to Victoria Gardens. The shift from the traditional Old Steine location is due to ongoing roadworks, but the new site offers a larger footprint for the three main performance spaces: the Spiegeltent, the WundaBarn, and the outdoor Spotlight Stage. Following a 2025 season that saw over 12,300 tickets sold, the 2026 edition features over 75 artists across 30 nights, starting with a launch party on 1 May featuring a DJ set from Metronomy’s OLUGBENGA. For those looking for community-focused events, the venue has partnered with Stay Up Late’s Gig Buddies to improve accessibility for neurodivergent attendees and those with learning disabilities, alongside a new queer-led commission by Brighton artist Alex Fincher in collaboration with Marlborough Productions.

The comedy lineup is particularly dense this year, featuring several Edinburgh Previews for those who want to see new material before it hits the summer festivals. On 3 May, Rob Auton and Huge Davies take the stage, followed by Sara Barron and Josh Weller on 17 May. Cult favourites Police Cops return to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their original show, while other notable names include David Hoyle on 12 May and Joseph Morpurgo presenting a work-in-progress on 22 May. The 'Weekend of Weird' from 22 to 25 May introduces a variety of experimental acts, including 'Mothman: A Romance Musical' and 'Joz Norris is Hugh Jackman is the Phantom of the Opera'. For fans of character comedy and variety, the schedule includes Rosalie Minnitt’s 'Clementine 2.0' and the '80s Party Game Show' by Dizzy O'Dare, which kicks off the first weekend on 2 May.
Cabaret and music fans have a steady stream of options throughout the month. 'C'est Magnifique' opens the Spiegeltent on 1 May, followed by 'The Sound of the Wunderlich' running from 8 to 10 May. The programme also sees the return of 'An Evening Without Kate Bush' and performances by Bourgeois and Maurice. On the music side, the final weekend features the 'New Generation Jazz Futures' and 'Fresh Sounds' showcases on 30 May. If you are visiting with family, the Family Fun Day on 2 May offers free stilt walking and face painting, while ticketed shows like 'SQUELCH!' and 'Do The Thing: Choose Your Own Musical' run across the second weekend of the month. For younger children, 'Bubba Licious' has multiple daily sessions scheduled throughout the final week of May.
Located at Victoria Gardens (BN1 1WN), the venue operates with unreserved seating in both the Spiegeltent and WundaBarn, so arriving about 30 minutes early is generally advised for groups. The site is fully wheelchair accessible and includes accessible toilets. While many of the main shows are ticketed, the Spotlight Stage provides free daily entertainment including poetry, choirs, and DJ sets. Theatre and spoken word also have a dedicated presence, with 'Carousel’s Pop Up Poets' appearing on 19 May and Elle Dillon-Reams performing 'MEAT' on 25 and 27 May. Whether you are heading down for a specific cabaret act or just stopping by the SpiegelPub, the new layout at Victoria Gardens is designed to accommodate the nearly 100 events planned for this year's festival run.
