With the summer of 2026 approaching, Brighton is preparing for a significant season of outdoor sports viewing, centered around the upcoming FIFA World Cup. The most prominent addition to the seafront this year is Central Park, a massive pop-up fan zone located at the Black Rock site. Running from June 11 through July 19, this venue is designed to hold up to 5,000 people, making it one of the largest open-air beach fan parks in Europe. It is situated about a ten-minute walk from the Brighton Palace Pier and roughly twenty-five minutes from the station, providing a central gathering point for those looking to watch the matches on 50-metre square screens. The setup includes high-specification sound systems and pyrotechnics, with football legends scheduled to attend each match to provide analysis. For those following the England national team, the key dates to note are the group stage matches against Croatia on June 17, Ghana on June 23, and Panama on June 27. Tickets for these events start at £4.50, and the organizers have implemented an Eco Pledge to eliminate single-use plastics and food waste throughout the month.

While football is the main draw, the Central Park site has a broader schedule that fills the gaps between match days with various music and cultural events. On June 13, the venue hosts a tech-house event by Puzzle, followed by a performance from Shy FX on June 20, which covers electronic genres like drum & bass and UK garage from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm. The following day, June 21, the atmosphere shifts toward country music with the Road to Nashville event, featuring tributes to artists like Morgan Wallen and Dolly Parton alongside activities like axe throwing and rodeo bulls. Later in the month, The Bootleg Beatles perform on June 26. Moving into July, the Rum & Reggae Fest takes place on July 4 with a lineup including Congo Natty and Gentlemans Dub Club, followed by a George Michael tribute by Rob Lamberti on July 5. The programming concludes with an All Day Indie event on July 12 and R&B Lovers on July 18, ensuring the screens and sound systems are utilized even when the tournament is on a break.
Outside of the seafront pop-up, the Terrace at the American Express Stadium remains a permanent option for large-scale viewing. Since its opening in April 2025, it has established itself as the largest fan zone in the Premier League, with a covered capacity for 1,000 people that can expand to 3,000 when using the outdoor space. This venue offers a different environment from the beach, utilizing the existing infrastructure of the stadium. Recent research into these types of official fan zones suggests they are becoming a preferred way to experience major tournaments, with many visitors citing the shared community atmosphere as the main reason for attending. Most people tend to stay for about two hours per visit, which has a noticeable impact on the local footfall around these specific areas of Brighton. Whether you prefer the coastal setting of Black Rock or the stadium atmosphere at Falmer, the city has several high-capacity options for following the sporting events this summer.
