The Great Escape 2026: Brighton’s music marathon returns

Brighton’s The Great Escape is back in its familiar multi-venue form from 13 to 16 May 2026, bringing around 500 artists to more than 30 venues across the city. The festival is built around discovery rather than one main stage: performances take place in rooms ranging from Brighton Dome to pubs, bars, converted arcades and seafront venues, with many locations close enough to reach on foot. During the day, the New Faces conference adds an industry side for music professionals, while the live programme is open to festivalgoers.

The wristband system remains central to the experience. A festival pass covers most performances across the four days, although selected shows need their own tickets. The full programme is released in waves between January and April, and the 2026 list already stretches across indie, electronic, pop, hip-hop, punk and alternative music. Names announced across the weekend include Peaches, Kingfishr, Gabriella Cilmi, Working Men’s Club, The Lottery Winners, PVA, Wet Leg-associated favourites and Teenage Joans, alongside a large number of newer acts. The day-by-day programme also features artists such as Lime Garden, The Orielles, Walt Disco, Bimini, Mandy, Indiana, Sassy 009, Do Nothing, ARXX, FEET, Ebi Soda and Yumi and the Weather. With so many sets running at once, the useful approach is to choose a few priorities and leave room for something unfamiliar.

That flexibility matters because the smaller rooms can fill quickly. Popular performances may operate a one-in-one-out system, so arriving early is sensible if there is a particular act you want to catch. Comfortable shoes will help when moving between venues, and the TGE app is the place to check live schedule changes and venue updates. The festival’s best-known success stories include Billie Eilish, Sam Fender, Wet Leg, Fontaines D.C. and IDLES, all artists who played the event before reaching much larger audiences.

The headline Spotlight Shows sit outside the standard wristband access. Kingfishr and Peaches are among the featured names, with separate gig tickets required, while wristband holders can also register for free Spotlight Show ticket giveaways. Kingfishr’s special show at Brighton Dome Concert Hall was listed for Thursday 14 May 2026, with standalone tickets stated as going on general sale at 10:00 on Friday 21 November 2026. The Dome, on Church Street, is about a ten-minute walk from Brighton station and has a history that reaches back to its original use as a riding school for the Prince Regent before its conversion into a concert hall in 1867.

The Great Escape is also a social event, bringing together fans, journalists, label scouts, agents and managers in the same compact part of Brighton.
